Belts & patterns....

 

 

As you learn Rhee Taekwondo and you gain more mental knowledge and physical knowledge you will get higher in the rankings marked by different coloured belts the darker the colour belt the higher the grade Rhee Taekwondo has 11 belts that are acheivable. here is a list of the belts and the special sets of movement called patterns associated with them (each pattern has a special set of movements each with its own meaning).

  • White belt- pattern-4 directional punching-7 movements (fronts stance, lower section block and midsection punch)

  • yellow tip-pattern-chonji-19 movements (inner fore arm block and back stance are added)

  • yellow-pattern-tan gun-21 movements (knife hand guarding block, knife hand strike, upper section block, twin fore arm guarding block, upper section punch)

  • green tip-pattern-to san-24 movements (outer fore arm block, front snap kick, cat stance, wide stance, twin outer for arm block, reverse punch, mid section pierce, spinning back knuckle strike, back knuckle strike)

  • green-pattern-won hyo-28 movements (fixed stance, lunge punch, knife hand chop, side kick, scooping block)

  • blue tip-pattern-yul kok-38 movements (pressing punch, pressing single hand knife hand guarding block, elbow strike, reinforced block)

  • blue-pattern-chung gun-32 movements (ridge hand strike, pressing palm block, twin upset punch, cross block, hook punch, stick catch)

  • brown tip-pattern-toi gye-37 movements (groin strike, knee strike, lower section reinforced block)

  • brown-pattern-hwa rang-29 movements (obverse punch, turning kick)

  • black tip-pattern-chung mu-30 movements (jumping side kick, back kick, twin pressing palm)

  • black-pattern-gwang gae-39 movements (no new techniques)
